Painting is my way to show my awe and appreciation of nature.
After seeing a still life sketch of a cedar tree that I drew as a child in my back garden, my art teacher gave me a large collection of oil paints and urged me to study oil painting. My interest in this field grew and I studied many different great artists, often trying out their techniques in my own works.

In the late 1970s I studied under Kim James and Bob Dawson who were lecturers at the Cambellwell School of Art and were leading sculpture artists in the 1950s and 60s.

I have enjoyed a successful art career while living in the Burgundy region in France, painting and selling my art in France and back in the United Kingdom.

I like to work in oils ‘en plein air’ as it allows me to capture and convey my immediate and personal response to the subject. I am inspired by the play of light reflected on the clouds, the colours of the rolling skies and the raw power and energy of the seas that surround us.

I love painting along the east coast and the rural landscapes of Britain and France. Working close to nature means that I am able to "Capture the Moment".
